Study of the Equilibrium Composition of a Sulfur Hexafluoride–Air Plasma Mixture between 1,000 K and 15,000 K: An Application to High-Voltage Circuit Breakers
Ibrahim Pafadnam a,b*, Nièssan Kohio b,c, Wêpari Charles Yaguibou b,d, Abdoul Karim Kagoné b,e, Haïdara Savadogo b, Abdoulaye Kabre b and Zacharie Koalaga b,e
Sulfur hexafluoride (SF₆) is widely used in high-voltage circuit breakers because of its insulating properties and interrupting capability, although concerns related to its environmental impact and decomposition products encourage efforts to limit its use. This study determines the equilibrium chemical composition of SF₆–air plasmas at atmosph(...)

Agricultural Productivity Growth in Burkina Faso: Disparities and Convergence Patterns Using the Meta-Frontier Färe–Primont Index
Henri Zoungrana, Mohamed Porgo, Coffie Francis José N'Guessan, Omer Souglimpo Combary
In developing countries where agriculture sustains rural livelihoods, advancing sustainable development and poverty reduction requires a better understanding of the drivers of agricultural productivity growth to promote inclusive growth and strengthen food security. This paper investigates the main constraints to agricultural productivity grow(...)

Characterization of raw clay from N'Djamena (Chad) used in water treatment: the case of lead (Pb) in aqueous systems
Constant Allaramadji Ngarmadji , Youssouf Sawadogo, Joël Samba, Moustapha Sawadogo, Kassoum Barry, Mohamed Seynou, Lamine Zerbo
This study evaluates the potential of a natural clay from N’Djamena (Chad) for removing Pb²⁺ ions from
aqueous solutions under static conditions. The adsorption performance was interpreted using Langmuir and Freundlich
isotherm models. Mineralogical characterization classified the raw material as a clay soil, predominantly composed of

A ROBUST APPROACH FOR FUZZY MULTIOBJECTIVE LINEAR OPTIMIZATION VIA BANACH SPACE EMBEDDING AND OPTIMAL TRANSFORMATION TECHNIQUE
JEAN DE LA CROIX SAMA1, WENDINDA BAMOGO, AND KOUNHINIR SOMÉ
This paper proposes an innovative approach to solving fuzzy multiobjective linear optimization
problems by combining the embedding theorem and an optimal transformation technique. The objective func-
tions and fuzzy constraints are first embedded in a Banach space, where they are represented as parametric
biobjective vectors. The applicatio(...)

Assessment of Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench.varietal resistance and the effect of aqueous extracts on Striga hermonthica (Del.) Benth. seed germination
Soumaïla Sourabié, N’Golo Marcel Kara, Patrice Zerbo, Djibril Yonli
Striga hermonthica is widespread in several regions of Burkina Faso. It attacks crops of
agronomic interest, causing losses ranging from 20 to 100% of grain yield in sorghum varieties.
This study carried out at the weed science laboratory from October 2022 to February 2023
aims to identify sorghum varieties resistant to Striga hermonthica a(...)

Medicinal insects: a promising biological resource for human health and potential pharmaceutical applications
Samuel Fogné Drabo, Idrissa Ouedraogo, Rahim Romba, Mamadou Ouango, Hama Cissé, Olivier Gnankine
Medicinal insects represent a valuable and still largely underexplored source of bioactive compounds with therapeutic potential for human health. Traditionally used in various cultural pharmacopeias, these insects are now drawing an increasing interest in pharmacological and biomedical research communities. Most medicinal insects belong to the(...)

Structural controls of the expansion of small‐scale artisanal gold of Bouda area (Kaya‐Goren greenstone belt, Burkina Faso) from remote sensing
Rashid Ali Isdine Dao, Hermann Ilboudo, David Baratoux
Small‐scale artisanal mining is a vital sector of the economy of Burkina Faso. This activity, correctly regulated, remains essential for the population, despite security issues since 2015. Exploration of new areas for gold mining in this condition is difficult but essential to continue extractive activities. It is, therefore, important to defi(...)

Does energy poverty hinder human capital development? Empirical evidence from Burkina Faso
Tobignaré Florent Maré, Eugéne Dimaviya Compaoré, Adiaratou Diallo
The objective of this article is to examine the effect of multidimensional energy poverty on human capital development in Burkina Faso. To this end, we adopt the approach developed by Nussbaumer et al. (2012) to measure multidimensional energy poverty and employ an instrumental variables method to address endogeneity issues inherent in the rel(...)
