An ETL Method for Data Warehouse Design Driven by Ontology and LLM
Kientega, T.B., Traore, Y., Malo, SThe processes involved in feeding a warehouse require such a high level of expertise that they are generally entrusted to an IT specialist (data administrator). This requires, first, that decision-makers express their needs to the IT specialist and, second, that the data warehouse developed by this IT specialist be validated. In the era of open decision-making information (self-service BI), decision-makers increasingly want to integrate and analyze data themselves without the help of experts. Added to this is the diversity of data, its speed of evolution, and its ever-increasing volume, which hinder traditional ETL approaches because they can no longer meet new requirements. We therefore offer an assistance process that allows decision-makers to integrate data themselves (Extract-Transform-Load: ETL) into a data warehouse using Large Language Models (LLMs) and ontology, without the need...

Anaïs Kady Coulibaly, Henri Sidabéwindin Ouédraogo, Aimée W. D. B. Guissou, Charles Parkouda and Aly SavadogoBackground: Fermented Zamné is a traditional condiment produced from Senegalia macrostachya seeds.
Aims: This study aims to isolate and characterise predominant Bacillus-related bacteria from fermented Zamné and to evaluate
their antimicrobial activity against selected indicator microorganisms.
Methods: A total of 65 aerobic mesophilic bacterial isolates obtained from four independent fermentations were characterised
using morphological and biochemical methods. Forty-four isolates were spore-forming, and 29 isolates displaying morphological characteristics consistent with Bacillus-related
bacteria were further characterised and identified using the API 50 CHB system.
The antimicrobial activity of the isolates was evaluated by an agar well diffusion assay against 13 indicator microorganisms,
including Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, yeasts, and moulds.
Results: The isola...

Rectangular zaï pit Lengths and Fertilisation Effects on Soil Fertility in the Sudano-Sahelian Zone of Burkina Faso
Abdoulaye Dabre, Lassina Sanou, Patrice Savadogo, Hassan Bismarck NacroApproximately 65% of agricultural land in the Sudano-Sahelian zone of Burkina Faso consists of degraded bare soils requiring urgent restoration. Although zaï technology is widely adopted, the influence of pit dimensions and their interaction with organic and mineral fertilisation on soil restoration remain insufficiently understood. A split-plot design was installed in 2019 on two contrasting bare soils: Toyendé (moderately acidic lixisol, Sudano-Sahelian) and Gouéré (near-neutral plinthosol, Sahelian). The main factor comprised four rectangular zaï pit lengths (30, 35, 40, 45 cm) and one circular pit (30 cm), all 20 cm deep in order to compare the performance of the two types of zaï in terms of water collection and the trapping of plant residues in the pits. The sub-factor comprised four fertilisation regimes: no input, compost (250–500 g/pit), NPK (6.5 g/pit) and compost + NPK. After t...

Effects of Common Hatchery Practices on Artificial Fertilization Success in African Catfish (Clarias gariepinus): Sperm Activation Media and Post-stripping Egg Storage Duration
Rokyatou Sissao, Aboubacar Sourabie, Abdoul Aziz Tapsoba, Célestin Yago, Saïdou SantiIn African catfish hatchery systems, post-stripping egg storage duration may vary among operators, and different additives are sometimes used empirically for sperm activation during artificial fertilisation. This study assessed the effects of post-stripping egg storage duration and sperm activation media on sperm motility characteristics and fertilisation success in C. gariepinus. Three egg storage durations (11, 38, and 71 min) and four sperm activation media (borehole water, sugar–salt borehole water, sugar borehole water, and saline borehole water) were evaluated with three replicates. Regarding sperm motility characteristics, borehole water resulted in the highest motility rate (83.3 ± 5.8%), whereas salt-containing activation media produced the lowest values (10.0 ± 8.7% and 4.0 ± 1.7%). However, no significant relationship was observed between sperm motility parameters (motility ra...

Improving Deep Learning Based UAV Thermal Images Classification By Taking Into Account Climate And Flight Parameters: The Case Of Fully Buried IEDs
Issaka Daouèga, Sadouanouan Malo, Frédéric OuédraogoImprovised explosive devices (IEDs) pose a serious threat to military operations. Previous studies have shown that thermal imaging can effectively distinguish between undisturbed soil, disturbed soil, and disturbed soil containing or not containing a buried IED, using batch-normalized VGG11 and VGG16 networks respectively. This study focuses on assessing the added value of contextual data (namely flight altitude, ambient temperature, and sunlight exposure) in improving the classification of thermal UAV images. Flight altitudes were vectorized and processed through a fully connected network. Ambient temperature and sunlight data were modeled as time series and analyzed using Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks. A batch-normalized VGG16 network served as the backbone for thermal image processing. The outputs from all modalities were combined and passed through a fully connected classifi...
