Effect of high temperature on sex determinism and sex differentiation in African catfish Clarias gariepinus
- ORBi (University of Liège) : 676-676
Résumé
In African catfish, as in most teleost fish, temperature act on sex differentiation process, with masculinizing effect of high temperature [1,3]. Several authors related masculinizing effect of high temperature to a repression of aromatase gene (Cytochrome P450). Recently, some authors observed that temperature effect can occur very early before gonadal histological differentiation and thus suggest a brain implication in sex differentiation process. Thus the aim of this study was to determine if classical high temperature treatment period (30 days) applied in African catfish could be reduced and if it exist a precocity of sex lability that would allow to hypothesize very early effect of high temperature and brain implication in sex differentiation process in African catfish.
