Résumé

This article analyses the translocal practices of migrants in the provinces of Kouritenga, Boulkiemdé and Ioba in Burkina Faso, with a focus on family visits and migrant returns. This quantitative, purposive research surveyed 540 households in rural villages in these three provinces. The study shows that translocality is essential for maintaining the cohesion of translocal households. Family visits play a central role in this process, particularly through women, who are the main players in these interactions. Migrants' returns are also key moments for redistributing resources and strengthening family ties. However, financial and logistical constraints limit the frequency of these exchanges, particularly for international migrants. In addition, internal migrants interact more frequently with their communities of origin, while international migrants, although less physically present, continue to play a crucial role in the local economy through remittances and sporadic visits.
