Résumé
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and periodontal disease are both
common in humans throughout the world. Clinical and epidemiological data support a link between these two conditions . Periodontal disease has been implicated in the initiation and perpetuation of autoimmunity in RA via activation of the enzyme peptidyl arginine deiminase 4 (PAD4) produced by bacteria such as Porphyromonas gingivalis . The objective of this work was to assess the prevalence of periodontal disease and to identify associated factors in black African patients with RA.
