Literature, as a source of inspiration or a medium of dissemination of
scientific knowlege, has a role to play in the resolution of man’s survival
issues such as the current sanitary crisis of COVID-19. In the wake of The
Novel Cure (2015), a pioneer work on the therapeutic use of literature by
Ella Berthould and Susan Ederkin [1], the aim of this article is to show that
bibliotherapy, that is, therapy by books reading, has a no negligible
contribution to make for the well-being of humankind in many regards. For
more efficiency in attaining the goal of this paper, the preventive dimension
of the approach is given preference over the curative approach. In this
regard, selected fictional works are looked into, in a view of making
prescriptions.
