Résumé

In the movement downstream and upstream of the popular uprising of 30 and 31 October 2014 in Burkina Faso, emerges an association whose actions and actors stand out. This movement, is one of the leading figures in the fight that led to the fall of the power of Blaise Compaoré. It was born in 2013 in the context of mobilization of youth against the amendment of Article 37 of the Constitution of Burkina Faso. The Balai citoyen differs from other organizations of civil society by the composition of its management team, as well as by its procedure. The movement was founded by journalists, artists, students and human rights activists gathered around a single ideal: to work for the advent of democracy, the consolidation of public life, equity in the distribution of national wealth, etc. The Balai citoyen was illustrated in street occupations to get his message across, organizing debates and conferences awareness caravans, etc.
Claiming the Sankarist ideology, Balai citoyen mobilizes in the junior class and holds a bottom Africanist discourse. Its calls for mobilization are always inspired by the speech of African combatants, including Thomas Sankara.
