Résumé
The management method of the boreholes equipped with Human Power Pumps (PMH) in the rural commune of Imasgo is community management. The Water Users Associations (WUA) created for this purpose have not been able to eliminate the handicaps in the population's access to drinking water. The aim of this study is to collect the perceptions of the population on this management method implemented in the rural community of Imasgo. The data collected in this study are exclusively quantitative. A total of 380 households were surveyed. To this end, the population was asked a series of questions about the management in order to determine their perceptions of these management parameters. The results show that the population is not unanimous on these issues. They have different and sometimes controversial perceptions, with different justifications. Overall, the performance of the leaders of the different water user associations (WUAs) was assessed positively by 34% of the population, negatively by 52%, while 14% of the population remained silent. These different perceptions mainly take into account the reactivity of these actors in the face of infrastructure breakdowns and their spatial distribution, the quality of the boreholes installed, the weight of the contributions and the management of financial resources.
