- Sociotexte, Revue de sociologie de l'Afrique littéraire : 261-275
Résumé
The surname represents a mark of recognition for a specific sociolinguistic and ethnic community. It helps to identify a community through language and cultural practices. In the Center-East region of Burkina, it has been observed that some surnames of the Bissa community are in the Moré language. The objective of this study is to demonstrate the acculturation of the Bissa ethnic group through certain surnames. This article questions the cultural identity of these surnames and the forms of language contact between Bissa and Moré. The tools of analysis used are sociolinguistics and ethnolinguistics. The corpus consists of six surnames from the Bissa community in the Center-East region of Burkina Faso. The results clearly indicate that the Moagha language and culture are gradually dominating the Bissa culture.
